The greatest miracle of life is finding one's existential meaning. I understand what the statement, Qur'an is the only miracle means, because of its guidance. Because sometimes you get depressed and no one can comfort you, but only with the consolation of the faith and the teachings of the Qur'an, you would be able to heal your heart. What miracle is there greater than this?
I spoke to a prisoner in my office today. His brother in Philadelphia was seriously injured as a result of an armed attack. He felt very sorry for his brother, who had been in a coma for a week. I read him some verses from the Qur'an. I read to him, again and again, the verses that relate to his current problem. "God gives no burden on anybody beyond their capacity” (Baqarah: 2: 286)
He then repeated this verse again and again. I felt that he was deeply touched by the verse. He then nodded agreeing that God is telling the truth. He felt better and reassured. I advised him to be strong because one should be strong in order to help others.
People should reflect on this verse whenever they have tribulations that they feel they cannot bear. We should remind ourselves that we are strong enough to go through the problem. And couple that with the power of our faith we will be able to pass the test. This is not simply an empty consolation to ourselves but it is the Divine truth that the Lord mentions in Final Testament.
This verse should be a healing prescription to the patients in the hospital, inmates in prison or anyone who has been tested in adversity, those who have lost their relatives and anyone who has any kind of affliction. As a matter of fact, after this conversation, the prisoner called his family and learned that his brother had woken up from a coma and slowly recovering. He couldn't stop smiling after that. Perhaps the miracle of this verse has manifested after he walked out of my office.
Yes, God will not burden us with any tribulation which we cannot handle. We can overcome all griefs, tribulations, problems with the power of faith. The power of God is greater than any problem. Instead of saying I have a big problem we should say that God is the greatest. On the other hand, each problem should make us more mature and stronger.
